History and Glory of the School
Jogendra Nath Memorial Higher Secondary school, situated beside 37 National Highway of Agia market is one of the oldest high schools in the district of undivided Goalpara. It was named in memory of Late Jogendra Nath, relentless freedom fighter and votary of learning who endeavoured heart and soul and paved the way in establishing the school in the pre-independence era.
The school was first started as a Middle English school for which no exact date can be traced. Just after Indian independence, people in the region felt the necessity to upgrade the school to High School level. It was then the first School Management Committee (SMC) was setup in the year 1948 with late Khagendra Nath Nath (MLA, Goalpara) as president and late Dijendra lal Sinha as secretary. Because of the relentless efforts of these two gentlemen and a few local individuals, the first classes were started in a temporary building of the school from 18th March, 1948. Then the first premier of Assam, Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi laid the foundation stone of the current school building on the 6th February 1949. In the year 1985, the school was converted into a Higher Secondary School.
Since inception JN Memorial HS School has exhibited glorious achievements in the field of education for the greater Agia region. Students from the school have won several awards in State and National level sports competitions. Alumni of the school are holding various key positions both in Government and in industry. With time, the school has truly established itself as a true centre of excellence.

The history of any institution is incomplete without the mention of the heads of the institution. Late Rajendra Narayan Das, who was the first headmaster of the school understood this fact completely and always led from front. After him, JN Memorial HS School is lucky to have some exceptional individuals to lead the institution. It was the hard work of these individuals alongwith the teachers that the school has reached the state what it is today
