Course of Studies

JN Memorial HS School imparts 5+2 pattern of education system starting from class VI. The high school comprises of five classes (VI to X). On the other hand, higher secondary section comprises of two classes (XI to XII). Two streams – Arts and Vocational streams have so far been introduced in the higher secondary section. Besides the regular courses, various educational programmes such as Gyan jyoti scheme, special science courses have been taken up time to time for the welfare of the students.

The high school section of the school is affiliated to Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) and the higher secondary section is affiliated to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

Academic Evaluation

Every year hundreds of students apply for admission into the esteemed school, out of which only a handful gets admission into the school classrooms. Once admitted, students are administered frequently by the teachers for their continuous academic growth. There used to be periodic unit tests, class tests, quizzes to assess their academic and general progress. Due weight is given to class works and the home works. The school authority also publishes a detail progress report of the student every year. The report is sent to the parents to get them apprised of their kid’s progress in academic and other spheres of school life during the academic year. The period parents’ meets are also conducted to get advice from the parents for the initiatives that the school authority can take up for the pupils.

Admission Procedure

In high school, students are admitted in the class VI and in class IX. Admission forms are issued from the school office usually in the month of December. Then the school authority conducts an entrance examination in the first week of January. The final list of admitted students is prepared after evaluating the performance in the entrance examination and a careful scrutiny of the data entered in the received applications. Every year the admission is made purely on merit basis without any comprise. Under special circumstances, students are admitted into any of the high school classes based on the merit record in the previous school.

In the higher secondary section, there is no entrance examination for admission into class XI. The applications are evaluated based on the mark received in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination.
